Hyderabad received two hours of intense rain on Monday evening, with some areas recording more than 9 cm, according to the weather department.
Water entered several low-lying colonies, and traffic on main roads came to a standstill during the evening peak.
GHMC emergency teams were deployed to clear water. Officials advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel, and the weather department has forecast moderate to heavy rain for the next two days.
